Advanced manufacturing for key products (IA) (Made in Europe partnership)
Horizon Europe · Cluster 4 – Digital, Industry and Space · HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-02
Innovation projects developing advanced manufacturing technologies and machinery for key products with less use of critical raw materials.
What is this call about?
The topic funds innovation actions that develop advanced manufacturing technologies and machinery for key products in Europe, cutting reliance on critical and imported raw materials.
What does this call fund?
Scope
The topic funds technologies and machinery for advanced manufacturing of key, high-performance components and products that help keep Europe's technological lead but are at risk of being lost to Europe, or that depend on raw materials or parts mostly sourced outside Europe. Proposals should enable manufacturing with minimal use of critical raw materials or imported materials, including greater use of secondary, bio-based or revalorised materials.
Technologies covered
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- innovative additive and hybrid (additive and subtractive) manufacturing;
- photonics and advanced joining technologies;
- polymer composite manufacturing;
- advanced surface treatment and structuring;
- manufacturing of components with lightweight materials;
- in-line testing.
Where it improves performance, proposals should use innovative advanced materials, including the steps needed to adapt them to the manufacturing application, but developing the materials should not be the main focus.
Expected outcomes
- Advanced manufacturing technology and machinery for key products available in Europe.
- More circular production, higher resource and energy efficiency, and greater competitiveness and resilience of European industry.
Further conditions
Proposals should include a business case and exploitation strategy. Automotive applications may be considered, but battery production is outside the scope. International cooperation is encouraged, especially with Japan or Taiwan. The topic implements the co-programmed European Partnership Made in Europe. Activities are expected to start at TRL 5 and reach TRL 7.
