Emergency Response Microgrants for Ecosystem Development for fact-checkers
Digital Europe Programme · DIGITAL-2025-BESTUSE-08-FACTCHECKERS
Microgrants for certified fact-checkers to produce English fact-sheets and case studies on disinformation in crisis events.
What is this call about?
The call funds certified fact-checking organisations to produce English fact-sheets and case studies on disinformation during crisis events. Organisations may receive funding several times.
What does this call fund?
Scope
The microgrants support cross-border cooperation and exchange so that fact-checkers can respond rapidly to disinformation during crisis events in Europe. They are part of the FACTEUR project led by the European Fact-Checking Standards Network with seven partner organisations.
Eligible activities
- Fact-sheets: short English overviews of the most prevalent disinformation narratives during ongoing semi-predictable and unpredictable crises with possible cross-border impact, to warn the fact-checking community of spill-over effects
- Case studies: post-crisis analyses documenting disinformation surges and the organisation's response, to share know-how across the community
The crisis events covered must occur during the call period. Outputs are delivered in English using the templates provided and shared via a designated platform.
Eligible costs
Direct costs cover salaries, translation and other activity costs. Indirect costs are capped at 10% of direct costs. Grants are lump sums paid in full after delivery of outputs, and costs are eligible from the date of application if approved.
Selection
After an eligibility check, consortium experts score requests on need and absorptive capacity; applications with at least 14 points are reviewed for approval. Requests are evaluated within 3 working days for fact-sheets and 7 working days for case studies.
