What is this call about?
The topic funds innovation actions that help farmers diversify crops and build local value chains to raise profitability and resilience. Consortia must involve farmers, SMEs, technology developers and consumers.
What does this call fund?
Scope
The topic supports farmers in diversifying crop production through rotations and associations, building low-input, resource-efficient systems and organised downstream value chains that make diversification profitable.
Activities
- Develop, test and showcase innovative solutions, business models and cooperation models that help farmers diversify crops.
- Assess the economic, social and environmental viability and impact of these innovations, including climate mitigation and biodiversity potential.
- Set out tailored exploitation pathways covering steps such as market research, regulatory approvals and IP management.
- Support farmers in the transition and produce creative, practice-oriented dissemination materials.
Requirements
Activities must follow the multi-actor approach with adequate involvement of SMEs, technology developers, farmers and consumers. Farmer and SME involvement should be fostered through targeted calls and financial support to third parties, particularly for SMEs developing and testing the solutions. Proposals should cover several farming systems, one of which should be organic farming, and collaborate with projects under other topics of the work programme.
Expected outcomes
Farmers move to diversified, resilient cropping systems, profitability rises through local value chains and the valorisation of crop by-products, and knowledge sharing on the benefits of diversification increases across Europe.
