Expanding and deepening the EOSC Federation (EOSC Partnership)
Horizon Europe · HORIZON-INFRA-2027-01-EOSC-01
Funds an action running joint calls that expand the EOSC Federation and give researchers shared data, computing and collaboration services.
This call is announced but not open yet. Dates and conditions can still change.
What is this call about?
The topic funds one co-funded action that runs joint calls for third parties to expand the European Open Science Cloud Federation, its Nodes and its shared digital research services.
What does this call fund?
Scope
The topic sets up a mechanism across the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Federation that lets many organisations offer digital research services, such as data storage, computing, applications and collaboration tools, and supports their sustained provision to EOSC users. It also enlarges the Federation by expanding EOSC Nodes, the gateways through which organisations offer data and services. It implements the co-programmed European Partnership for the European Open Science Cloud.
Activities
- Provide seamless access to digital services for typical research workflows through a Federation-wide system, based on analysis of user needs, a Federation-wide resource management and accounting system building on the virtual credit allocation of the EOSC EU Node, and harmonised access policies.
- Integrate key services across providers, test business models for long-term provision, develop guidelines on acquiring and providing services that support research data sovereignty and security, and set up quality and usage monitoring.
- Broaden participation of research communities, including underrepresented thematic communities and geographic areas, through coordination mechanisms within Nodes, organisational models and harmonised legal arrangements such as service-level agreements.
How funding is delivered
Activities are implemented through joint calls that give grants to third parties: organisations that operate or plan to operate an EOSC Node, or that onboard their resources to the Federation. Proposals should list the digital services to be supported, and funded third parties should specify the services and amount of access they offer and meet the virtual access conditions of the Work Programme. Proposals should include a credible plan for operating the services beyond the project.
Expected outcomes
- EOSC users have state-of-the-art services to store, process and share data, run software and collaborate.
- Infrastructures and service providers have structures and mechanisms to onboard and sustainably operate services in the Federation.
- Investments in FAIR data and services across Europe are better aligned and coordinated.
