Open call for Network Projects applications
Eureka Network
Year-round call for international collaborative R&D projects in Eureka countries, funded through national funding bodies.
What is this call about?
The call supports international collaborative R&D projects aimed at new products, processes or services with a civilian purpose. Consortia of at least two independent legal entities from two Eureka countries can apply, with funding provided by each partner's national funding body.
What does this call fund?
Scope
The call supports international collaborative research and development projects run by consortia from Eureka participating countries. Projects should be aimed at researching or developing a product, process or service, must have a civilian purpose and must take the form of a specific cooperative project.
How funding works
There is no central budget. Successful projects receive a Eureka label, and each participant seeks funding from its own national or regional funding body, which may carry out a further evaluation under national rules before allocating funds. Funding rates, instruments (grants, loans, repayable advances or tax credits) and caps differ by country and by organisation type, and several national bodies list additional criteria. Some countries currently have no allocated budget for the programme, the Netherlands funding body does not take part in the open call, and the option is temporarily unavailable for Switzerland. Organisations may also take part on a self-funded basis.
Examples of national support
- Austria: grants of up to 50-60% of project costs for SMEs and up to 40% for large companies, for up to three years.
- Hungary: grants of approximately €58,000 to €203,000, or up to 80% of project costs for SMEs, 65% for large companies and 100% for research organisations, universities and non-profit organisations in a consortium with a Hungarian company.
- Poland: up to approximately €235,000 per Polish participant and approximately €470,000 per consortium with more than one Polish partner.
Application process
Applicants should first contact their national funding body to discuss the idea, financial viability and eligibility. One application form per consortium is completed in English on the application portal, with partner forms, a GANTT chart, a signed co-signature form and any required annexes. Some countries require a parallel national application. A signed consortium agreement is the final step.
Evaluation criteria
Applications are assessed on impact (market, value creation, competitive advantage, commercialisation plans), excellence (degree of innovation, use of new knowledge, technical challenge and risk), quality and efficiency of implementation (consortium quality, added value of international cooperation, project management, cost structure) and an overall assessment by experts.
