Phortify Mobility Grants - Pilot Call
Digital Europe Programme · DIGITAL-2024-ADVANCED-DIGITAL-07-KEYCAPACITY
Lump-sum grants for students and doctoral candidates attending photonics workshops, summer schools and conferences via Phortify partners.
What is this call about?
The pilot call funds short-term mobility of students and doctoral candidates to photonics-related events organised under Phortify partner institutions. Support takes the form of lump sums towards travel, accommodation, subsistence and fees.
What does this call fund?
Scope
Phortify is a European photonics education network whose funding framework aims to widen participation in photonics, particularly among groups underrepresented in STEM. This pilot call supports short-term mobility for workshops, summer schools, conferences and other learning-oriented events relevant to Phortify, implemented under the responsibility of partner institutions: Ghent University, Eindhoven University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology and Friedrich Schiller University.
Eligible costs
Lump sums contribute to travel, accommodation, subsistence and, where applicable, registration or participation fees. No other activities are eligible.
Funding amounts by partner
- Ghent University: €1,000 for a selected event, workshop or summer school
- Eindhoven University of Technology: €2,000 for a selected international event, workshop or summer school, or €500 for a selected national or international event
- Warsaw University of Technology: €2,000 for a selected event, workshop or summer school
- Friedrich Schiller University: €800 for the Jena Quantum Hackathon or the DokDok conference 2026
Selection
Applications pass a pass/fail eligibility check and are then ranked on academic excellence, motivation and alignment with Phortify objectives, and overall applicant profile (each scored 0 to 5, maximum 15 points). Funding follows a rolling procedure with evaluation rounds typically every two to three months; where scores are tied, tie-break rules favour underrepresented groups, including women and students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.
Application
Applications are submitted via the Phortify website, with transcripts, a Phortify-specific motivation letter and a CV.
