Secure Computing Continuum (IoT, Edge, Cloud, Data spaces)
Horizon Europe · Cluster 3 – Civil Security for Society · HORIZON-CL3-2027-02-CS-ECCC-02
Funding for security and privacy solutions across IoT, edge, cloud and data spaces, including zero-trust and post-quantum approaches.
This call is announced but not open yet. Dates and conditions can still change.
What is this call about?
The topic funds innovation actions that secure the computing continuum from IoT devices and edge to cloud and data spaces, with privacy built in. It is part of the call for actions indirectly managed by the ECCC.
What does this call fund?
Scope
The topic aims to strengthen security across the whole computing continuum: Internet of Things devices, edge computing, cloud infrastructure, AI computing environments and data spaces. Proposals should address data integrity in distributed and dynamic environments, zero-trust architectures for interconnected systems, and protection of sensitive data and processes. Privacy is a core element, in line with data protection rules such as GDPR.
Areas proposals can address
- Security from edge to cloud, for example lightweight cryptography, including post-quantum cryptography, within zero-trust and decentralised security models.
- Interoperability of security across computing layers, including identity and access management, cross-domain authentication and privacy-preserving data exchange.
- Portable post-quantum cryptography acceleration through secure hardware and software co-design.
- Resilience against distributed cyber threats through AI-driven anomaly detection, intrusion prevention and automated response, using techniques such as federated analysis, secure multi-party computation or fully homomorphic encryption.
Expected outcomes
- Greater resilience of interconnected systems against distributed and adversarial attacks while preserving privacy.
- Security solutions tailored to IoT and edge environments with built-in privacy protection.
- Better interoperability and cross-layer security, including across providers in the multi-provider edge-cloud continuum.
Further expectations
- Solutions should preserve data confidentiality throughout its lifecycle, in compliance with data protection frameworks such as GDPR.
