What is this call about?

The call funds the production of drama films and series for television and online platforms. It is aimed at independent European audiovisual production companies working with broadcasters from at least two MEDIA countries.

What does this call fund?

Scope

The call supports the production of drama films intended for linear and non-linear broadcasting, including digital platforms. It aims to increase the capacity of independent audiovisual producers to make strong projects with potential to circulate across Europe and beyond, and to facilitate European and international co-productions in the television and online sector.

Eligible activities

  • Only production activities for works intended mainly for television or online exploitation are eligible; for this topic, drama films (one-off or series) with a total duration of at least 90 minutes.
  • Projects should show strong cooperation between operators from different MEDIA countries, high creative value, wide cross-border potential and innovative content or financing linked to the distribution strategy.
  • Applications must be submitted at the latest on the first day of principal photography.
  • Applicants should present strategies for a more environmentally respectful production (for example through greening consultants) and for gender balance, inclusion and diversity.

Expected outcomes

  • More high-quality European works for broadcasting and digital platforms, and more co-productions.
  • Stronger cooperation between operators, including broadcasters and partners from low-capacity countries.
  • Larger audiences for European works and more international cooperation, including with Korean professionals.

Form of funding

The grant is a lump sum fixed according to the total production budget, ranging from €70,000 for budgets up to €500,000 to €2,000,000 for budgets above €20,000,000. Prefinancing of normally 70% of the maximum grant amount is paid after signature, with no interim payments.
