Proposals may address one or more of four focuses and combine them as appropriate. Synergies with the New European Bauhaus may be considered.

Focus areas

  • Crafts-led innovation: a framework applying circular economy and frugal innovation principles from craft practices across industries, with models for collaboration and knowledge transfer between craft practitioners, designers, researchers and industry.
  • Adaptive reuse of built cultural heritage: methods, criteria and indicators to evaluate the economic, social and environmental benefits of reusing heritage buildings and their contribution to circular cities, plus evaluation tools for circular financing, business and governance models.
  • Food heritage and gastronomy: a framework integrating circular principles into gastronomy and food heritage, with transferable methods.
  • Circular design: a framework for integrating circular principles into design processes in the creative industries and a collaborative environment for sharing practices across industries.

Expected outcomes
