¿De qué trata esta convocatoria?
The topic funds innovation actions that bring clean technologies for energy systems, zero-emission power, storage and renewable fuels close to market. It targets industry-driven consortia covering a clean tech value chain, from technology suppliers to industrial energy users.
¿Qué financia esta convocatoria?
Scope
The topic supports innovative clean tech solutions in one main area, optionally combined with the others: integrated net-zero emissions energy systems such as grids and networks; enhanced zero-emission power technologies, including renewable electricity and heat; and storage technologies, renewable fuels and carbon capture and utilisation, such as batteries, renewable hydrogen, advanced biofuels and synthetic renewable fuels. Applicants choose the specific value chain they wish to strengthen.
What projects should do
- Develop innovative technological solutions along a clean tech value chain, involving clean tech suppliers, energy users in sectors such as manufacturing, energy and transport, and other stakeholders.
- Show how the solutions are integrated with industrial decarbonisation and give a clear, quantifiable impact on competitiveness and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Demonstrate industrial leadership for deployment after the project and seek coherence with the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan.
- Include a business plan, a market-readiness strategy and an analysis of technological and non-technological barriers to deployment.
- Include a go/no-go moment before the contracting and demonstration phase, by which detailed engineering plans, a techno-economic assessment, permits for the demonstrator and the industrial partners leading deployment are in place.
Expected outcomes
Projects should improve the circular material use rate and reduce the levelised cost of energy delivered to end users of the chosen solution, contribute to EU manufacturing capacity for net-zero technologies, and bring the solution to full technological maturity close to market readiness. Activities are expected to start at TRL 6 and reach TRL 8 by the end of the project.
Other conditions
Where more than 50% of the EU supply of a main component comes from a third country, at least 50% of such components should be sourced from the EU or other Horizon Europe Associated Countries, unless a lower share is justified. Technologies with a negative impact on biodiversity and ecosystems should be avoided.
