Scope

The topic, part of the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe Programme, funds pan-European and innovative projects that build on an evidence-based analysis of audience needs, with a particular focus on young audiences. Projects should increase interest in, knowledge of and access to European films, including film heritage programmes and other audiovisual works, extend pan-European audience reach, and use existing European works for audience development, film education and film literacy.

Activities

• Audience-oriented events.
• Innovative or cross-border film education initiatives.
• Cooperation between film institutions and existing online platforms is encouraged, as is reaching audiences in areas with poorly developed cinema infrastructure.

Applications should present a thorough, evidence-based analysis of audience or market needs, and must set out quantifiable targets and present strategies for environmental sustainability, gender balance, inclusion, diversity and representativeness.

Expected impact

• Greater audience interest in and knowledge of European films, film heritage and other audiovisual works, including videogames and immersive content.
• Stronger pan-European cooperation on innovative audience development and film education, especially through new digital tools.
• Wider pan-European impact and audience outreach, and film education projects across European and non-European territories.

Eligible costs

The grant is budget-based and reimburses actual eligible costs, with unit cost and flat-rate elements: personnel, subcontracting, travel and subsistence, equipment (depreciation), other goods, works and services, and indirect costs at a flat rate of 7% of eligible direct costs. There is no limit on the requested grant amount.
