Di cosa tratta questo bando?
The topic funds projects that test and validate disruptive early-stage technologies and prepare them for use in civil security operations. Projects are expected to reach technology readiness level 4-5.
Cosa finanzia questo bando?
Scope
The topic supports integrating disruptive technological innovations into civil security by strengthening research and innovation that improves preparedness, response capability and risk mitigation. In this destination, disruptive technological innovations are breakthrough technologies starting at low or very low technology readiness (below level 4) that promise a paradigm shift in how civil security operations are carried out, for example by improving performance or cutting costs. A key aim is to bridge the gap between early-stage research and applied security solutions.
What proposals should do
- Prioritise disruptive solutions that address diverse security threats and make civil security operations more efficient and effective, ensuring the technologies are robust, reliable, scalable and aligned with practitioners' needs.
- Build a structured pathway to move low-readiness innovations into practical use, with rigorous testing and validation of safety, performance and interoperability.
- Promote strong collaboration between researchers, public authorities, industry and end users to co-develop solutions that are innovative and operationally relevant, and make sure the technologies are ethically sound, transparent and accessible.
- Consider consulting relevant technology foresight exercises, as encouraged by the call, so the work fits long-term EU strategic priorities, and address the applicable considerations in the introduction to the Strengthened Security Research and Innovation destination.
Activities are expected to reach technology readiness level 4-5 by the end of the project.
Expected outcomes
Contributions to some or all of: better preparedness, evidence-based approaches, response capability and risk mitigation through validated disruptive technologies in real operations; and faster adoption of innovative solutions by reducing barriers through rigorous testing and validation, with collaboration among public authorities, industry and researchers.
