Creative Europe · CREA-CROSS-2027-MEDIALITERACY
Cross-border media literacy projects that strengthen resilience to disinformation and information manipulation, mainly outside formal education.
Di cosa tratta questo bando?
The call funds cross-border projects that develop and scale up innovative media literacy tools, trainings, campaigns and events, with a focus on adults outside the education system. It is open to consortia of public and private legal entities from Creative Europe participating countries.
Cosa finanzia questo bando?
Scope
The call supports innovative and collaborative cross-border projects that advance media literacy across Europe, including to strengthen societal resilience against disinformation and foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI). The focus is in particular on non-educational settings and on the adult population outside the education system. Innovative approaches may cover new ideas, methods, tools or modes of delivery, online or offline.
What proposals should do
- Help citizens develop a critical approach to the media and recognise, prepare for and react to disinformation and manipulation techniques.
- Address the changing media ecosystem, including new news consumption patterns, online platforms and artificial intelligence.
- Involve actors such as media and information integrity professionals, content creators and influencers, gamers and artists.
- Work across cultural, national and/or linguistic borders and build on best practices from recent media literacy projects.
- Be based on a needs analysis of the target countries and target groups, including a mapping of existing initiatives.
Priority should be given to initiatives that can reach a broad audience and/or groups currently underserved by media literacy programmes. Applicants should consider countries and regions with particular media literacy challenges, and are encouraged to cooperate with the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) regional hubs.
Activities that can be funded
- Multilingual and/or multicultural content and campaigns, including interactive content.
- Development and deployment of media literacy tools and other innovative solutions (prototypes are possible, but projects may not focus exclusively on IT development).
- Training for citizens, educators and content creators, including sharing of best practices across borders.
- Public events and workshops, and community-led activities that adapt media literacy tools and materials.
Expected outcomes
New or scaled-up cross-border collaborations on media literacy, tools, trainings and campaigns reaching specific audiences, and support for media literacy professionals in adapting to technological change, AI-generated content and the growing role of social media and influencers.
Costs and grant set-up
The grant is budget-based (actual costs with unit cost and flat-rate elements). Indirect costs are covered at a flat rate of 7% of eligible direct costs. Financial support to third parties is not allowed. Projects must include work packages on project management, at least one activity, and follow-up and dissemination.
