Horizon Europe · Cluster 5 – Climate, Energy and Mobility · HORIZON-CL5-2027-02-D2-06
Funding for cheaper, more energy-efficient and flexible manufacturing of lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery cells.
Questo bando è stato annunciato ma non è ancora aperto. Date e condizioni possono ancora cambiare.
Di cosa tratta questo bando?
The call funds innovation actions that develop and demonstrate cheaper, more energy-efficient and flexible production techniques for lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery cells.
Cosa finanzia questo bando?
Scope
Proposals should develop and demonstrate next-generation battery cell manufacturing processes and machinery that cut costs and energy use over the battery lifecycle while keeping or improving cell quality and sustainability.
Proposals are expected to address all of the following
- Flexible, modular and reconfigurable machinery for pilot lines that can switch between lithium-ion and sodium-ion chemistries
- New mixing systems and electrode manufacturing techniques with advanced in-line quality control
- Optimised dry-room cell assembly with higher throughput and lower energy use
- Faster, energy-efficient cell formation with shorter formation and ageing times
- Digitalisation of the production line, including in-line testing and defect detection
- Techno-economic and life-cycle assessments showing advantages over current practice
The Safe and Sustainable by Design framework should be used as a reference.
Expected outcomes
A more competitive, resilient and sustainable European cell manufacturing industry with measurable reductions in capital and operating costs, energy use and environmental footprint, and flexible pilot lines that switch between chemistries with less cross-contamination.
Other conditions
Exploitation plans should include preliminary plans for scale-up and commercialisation, naming possible funding sources such as the Innovation Fund. Projects report results to the Batt4EU partnership. Activities are expected to reach TRL 6-7.
