Scope
The action aims to address the innovation paradox by improving knowledge valorisation and helping start-ups, spin-offs and innovative SMEs take up green and digital technologies. It focuses on the untapped intellectual assets, including dormant patents, held by universities and public research organisations, and on the creativity of students, researchers and innovators.
Activities
- Explore strategies and run pilots that involve students and researchers, including from social sciences and humanities, in valorising academic intellectual property, through hackathons, workshops and larger summer camp programmes, with interested industry partners.
- Identify and test models and tools that make it easier for start-ups and SMEs to access and use academic IP, including innovative licensing, approaches for unused patents and the use of AI to manage research results and IP.
- Exploit synergies with other EU-funded projects on IP management, entrepreneurship and AI for knowledge valorisation.
- Include measures to reduce the gender gap and promote diversity and inclusion in knowledge valorisation.
Expected outcomes
- Greater valorisation of academic intellectual assets to support adoption of green and digital technologies by industry, SMEs and start-ups.
- Stronger entrepreneurial skills and more involvement of students, researchers and innovators.
