Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?

The call gives European cinema distributors a fund based on their 2026 admissions for non-national European films. The fund must be reinvested in co-producing, acquiring and promoting further non-national European films in cinemas and online.

Que finance cet appel ?

Scope

The call, under the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe Programme, supports the wider transnational distribution of recent European films. European distributors receive funds based on their performance on the market, which they must reinvest in the acquisition, promotion and distribution, including online, of recent non-national European films.

How the support works

  • Phase 1, generation of a potential fund: each distributor generates a fund based on eligible paying admissions achieved in 2026 by non-national European films it distributed, multiplied by a coefficient that depends on the country of distribution and the nationality of the film. Admissions per film are capped by country, films with fewer than 200 admissions in a country are not counted, and minimum fund thresholds per applicant apply (from €4,500 to €27,000 depending on the country). The fund may not exceed €1,000,000 per applicant.
  • Phase 2, reinvestment: the fund must be reinvested in up to 12 eligible non-national films through co-production, acquisition of theatrical and/or online distribution rights (for example minimum guarantees), and promotion, marketing and advertising for theatrical and online releases.

Eligible activities and costs

  • Co-production and acquisition of rights together may account for at most 70% of the total direct reinvestment budget.
  • Promotion may include promotional materials, advertising (including digital), social media and influencer content, PR, prints, subtitling and dubbing, and for online releases platform coordination, performance tracking, aggregator costs and virtual launch events.
  • Personnel work and travel cannot be covered, and promotional material developed with Eurimages marketing support is excluded.

Eligible films

Fiction (including animation) or documentary works of at least 60 minutes, first copyright in 2023 or later, majority produced by producers from MEDIA countries with more than 50% of financing from those countries, and with significant participation of professionals from MEDIA countries.

Expected outcomes

  • Better transnational distribution of recent non-national European films.
  • More investment in the production, acquisition, promotion and distribution of these films.
  • Stronger links between the production and distribution sectors.
