Scope
The topic funds one large-scale demonstrator of AI-enabled electric autonomous mobility services at automation level 4 in urban traffic. Cities or urban agglomerations partner with mobility service providers and operators, vehicle manufacturers, technology providers, research entities and public transport operators.
Activities
- preparing integration, operations and deployment of autonomous vehicles in 5 to 7 city pilots in 5 or more Member States or associated countries
- at least one cross-border pilot between adjacent cities to demonstrate interoperability across national rules and infrastructure
- mandatory sharing of data, AI models and experience across all pilots through an agreed scheme
- prototyping equipment, integrating vehicles into transport systems, initial demonstrations in real traffic, and scaling and financing roadmaps
- guidance on safety, approvals, certification, procurement and infrastructure integration
Expected outcomes
Commercially scalable autonomous mobility services, stronger competitiveness of European vehicle and technology providers, safer and more sustainable urban mobility, and reduced regulatory and operational barriers to deployment.
Technology readiness
Activities are expected to reach TRL 8 by the end of the project.

- Cities or urban agglomerations from countries that have signed or plan to sign the joint declaration on a cross-border testbed for autonomous vehicles, or that can show comparable readiness, partnering with industry and transport actors.
- The demonstrator is expected to include 5 to 7 city pilots in 5 or more Member States or associated countries, and the pilots should include at least one cross-border pilot.
- Consortia will interact closely with the European Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Alliance and the CCAM partnership activities.
