Worum geht es in dieser Ausschreibung?
The call funds innovation actions that validate and scale up efficient open-source and generative AI tools for real-time grid operation, forecasting and consumer energy services on operational grids.
Was fördert diese Ausschreibung?
Scope
Building on earlier Horizon Europe and Digital Europe work on the digital spine of the energy system, cloud and edge computing and the Common Energy Data Space, projects are expected to:
- Validate at a demo site and on an operational grid, and scale up, secure and frugal open-source (generative) AI tools for real-time grid monitoring, balancing and forecasting, market operations where relevant, and consumer empowerment
- Demonstrate an AI development environment within the enhanced digital spine of the energy system, including its digital twin, incorporating the Common Reference Framework for energy-saving applications
- Prototype and validate at scale machine learning at edge nodes and federated learning at swarm level in an agent-based architecture
Expected outcomes
Advanced, secure and resource-efficient AI tools for grid operations and consumers in distributed energy systems, a demonstrated AI development environment, scaled-up edge and federated learning, and a governance framework and operating model for the AI-powered digital spine.
Other conditions
Deliverables should be compatible with the Common European Energy Data Space and consistent with EU AI and energy digitalisation policies. Projects are expected, where possible, to use European AI factories and gigafactories, contribute to European standards and open-source communities, and take part in the BRIDGE initiative. Activities are expected to reach TRL 7-8.
