Que finance cet appel ?
Scope
Projects support stakeholders in preventing, eradicating and managing invasive alien species through living labs, including adaptive management. All ecosystem types (terrestrial, freshwater and marine) may be addressed.
Activities
- Set up at least three living labs, each with 10 to 20 experimental sites, based on co-creation with stakeholders, real-life settings and involvement of end-users.
- Build on or develop methods to detect and monitor invasive species, such as citizen science, eDNA, remote sensing and machine learning, and test them at scale.
- Design and test innovative eradication and management methods, including physical removal and biological or chemical control, and assess their effectiveness and the prevention of re-invasion.
- Provide data on socio-economic impacts, the cost of inaction and the benefits of management, with input from social sciences and humanities.
Financial support to third parties
Projects may run calls to involve small actors such as land managers, SMEs or civil society in the living labs. At most 30% of the EU funding should go to this purpose.
Expected outcomes
Stronger capacity and governance among researchers, decision-makers, practitioners and local communities to tackle invasive species, and better-protected native ecosystems.
