Scope
The topic helps bring microbiome solutions, meaning technologies or products that use or support microbial communities, to the EU market for resilient, competitive and sustainable organic, circular and conventional food systems. It addresses barriers such as missing business models and the difficulty of producing effective solutions consistently at scale.
Activities
Proposals should address all of the following:
- Promote EU market access for innovative microbiome solutions in sectors that support sustainable food systems.
- Develop technologies, standards or methodologies for cost-effective and reliable production and deployment at scale.
- Provide business models that help companies, SMEs and start-ups deploy and commercialise microbiome solutions.
Expected outcomes
Barriers and opportunities for scaling up microbiome-based products are identified, and in-situ testing of these solutions improves to ease their access to the EU market. Activities are expected to start from TRL 5 and reach TRL 7-8 by the end of the project.
