Scope
This open topic welcomes proposals on existing and emerging challenges in fighting crimes that are deeply rooted in cultural or societal factors and are not covered by the other Horizon Europe Fighting Crime and Terrorism topics from 2021 to 2027.
What proposals should do
- Explain how developed tools and solutions will be demonstrated, tested or validated.
- Set out plans for future uptake and upscaling at national and EU level.
- Address technological and societal dimensions in a balanced way, with an effective contribution from social sciences and humanities (SSH).
- Plan financial support to third parties (police authorities, NGOs or civil society organisations) to extend the work to more user groups or to additional assessments and testing. Between 5% and 20% of the requested EU funding may be used for this purpose.
- Plan a mid-term deliverable in which the practitioners involved assess the project's mid-term outcomes.
Expected outcomes
- Validated tools, skills, methods and training curricula for police authorities, NGOs and civil society organisations to prevent, detect and deter the offences addressed.
- Better understanding of the cultural and societal aspects of crime, terrorism or radicalisation.
- Evidence-based support for policymakers on related regulation.
- Greater public awareness of how these offences work and how to protect against them.
