Was fördert diese Ausschreibung?

Scope

The topic supports the Science Service for Biodiversity linked to the European Commission Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity (KCBD), science-policy support for the IPBES and Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) processes, and knowledge exchange on nature-based solutions (NbS).

Activities

  • Run a functional Science Service acting as a single entry point for evidence-based services, including high-quality answers to biodiversity policy requests submitted to the KCBD, knowledge exchange networks and Science Service tools.
  • Strengthen the capacity of researchers and negotiators from the EU and Associated Countries to engage in IPBES and CBD processes, including scientific and back-office support to negotiators.
  • Support the KCBD in its role as a European Technical and Scientific Support Centre under the CBD.
  • Maintain a multi-stakeholder dialogue platform on NbS that links science, policy, practice and business, building on the NetworkNaturePLUS project.

Financial support to third parties

Proposals are strongly encouraged to provide financial support to third parties, for example to answer policy requests or to involve experts in IPBES and CBD processes. At most 30% of the EU funding should go to this purpose, through a fair and transparent selection process.

Expected outcomes

Effective scientific support to biodiversity policymaking at all levels, better transfer of knowledge from EU-funded research to IPBES and the CBD, and wider uptake of NbS across the EU and beyond.
