Advancing interdisciplinary, data-driven research at the biodiversity- health interface under a One Health approach
Horizon Europe · HORIZON-NATURE-2027-03-01
Funding for use cases, shared data and tools that link biodiversity and ecosystem health with human and animal health under One Health.
Cet appel est annoncé mais pas encore ouvert. Les dates et les conditions peuvent encore changer.
Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?
The topic funds one large project that builds use cases, interoperable data and tools linking biodiversity, ecosystem health and human and animal health under the One Health approach. It targets interdisciplinary consortia combining environmental, life sciences and data expertise.
Que finance cet appel ?
Scope
The topic funds one project that tackles the main barriers to interdisciplinary research at the interface of wildlife and ecosystem health, husbandry, and animal, plant and human health, with a focus on data quality, fragmentation, accessibility and interoperability.
Thematic use cases
At least six complementary use cases that together address the main drivers of biodiversity loss (land and sea use change, direct exploitation, climate change, pollution, invasive and proliferating species) and their impacts on health. Each use case must link to human health, including infectious and non-communicable diseases such as mental health; those on infectious diseases consider the interface between wildlife and domesticated animals. Together, the use cases cover at least three ecosystem types across terrestrial, freshwater and marine realms and different biogeographical regions.
Data sharing and interoperability
- Mobilise existing datasets across domains and identify critical data gaps, including for European data sovereignty.
- Promote research between life sciences and environmental domains through the European Open Science Cloud and Common European Data Spaces.
- Develop and validate analytical and data integration tools, including AI where appropriate, harmonised ontologies and reporting standards.
- Provide data and software governance recommendations based on FAIR and, where relevant, CARE principles.
Proof of concept
Using the use cases, demonstrate how a fully integrated One Health or Planetary Health approach increases resilience to biodiversity loss, ecosystem degradation, diseases, pollution and climate change, and produce recommendations, indicators and decision-support tools for policymakers.
Expected outcomes
Robust knowledge and analytical frameworks, FAIR data on enhanced digital infrastructures, and tested tools that help stakeholders mainstream biodiversity in One Health and Planetary Health approaches.
