Cet appel est annoncé mais pas encore ouvert. Les dates et les conditions peuvent encore changer.
Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?
The call funds system-level demonstrations of new long-duration battery storage technologies for the grid and for large industrial consumers, using abundant and sustainable materials.
Que finance cet appel ?
Scope
This Horizon Innovation Action supports system-level demonstrations of innovative long-duration battery storage (more than 8 hours) for utility-scale energy systems or industrial consumers.
Expected activities
- Demonstrate advanced long-duration storage technologies not yet on the market, such as novel redox flow, high-temperature, metal-air or multivalent chemistries.
- Define use cases (grid-scale storage, large industrial consumers, firming of renewable generation) with quantified impact on resilience, emissions, safety and storage cost.
- Assess hybridisation with complementary storage technologies.
- Use abundant, low-cost, sustainable materials with reliable European supply chains, and show pathways to large-scale production.
- Integrate digital tools for state-of-charge, state-of-health and lifetime prediction and for battery and energy management.
- Carry out techno-economic analyses based on measured performance and a system-level safety assessment, with Safe and Sustainable by Design as a reference.
Expected outcomes
Demonstrated long-duration storage that improves grid stability and flexibility, less dependence on critical raw materials, input for an EU-wide stationary storage strategy, and reliable operational data for techno-economic analysis. Exploitation plans should include scalability, commercialisation and deployment, indicating possible funding sources such as the Innovation Fund. Activities are expected to reach TRL 6-7 by the end of the project.
