Que finance cet appel ?

Scope

The topic accelerates innovative solutions in ports to meet the objectives of the Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters, in line with EU legislation on industrial emissions, water, marine strategy, waste, maritime spatial planning and nature restoration. It covers coastal and inland ports of any activity type and size.

What projects should do

  • Test, deploy and upscale solutions to restore port ecosystems and reduce pollution, and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Bring together ports, local stakeholders, authorities, researchers and industry to develop local implementation strategies, for example on renewable energy, alternative fuels, circular economy, nature-based solutions or adaptation to sea level rise.
  • Share knowledge within and between ports, for example through summer schools, twinning and living labs.
  • Help smaller ports through targeted assistance and capacity building.
  • Seek synergies with other EU, national and regional programmes and private investors.

Demonstration and replication

Demonstration activities take place in at least 4 ports, one in each of the four basins: Atlantic and Arctic, Mediterranean, Baltic and North Sea, and Danube River basin including the Black Sea. Projects engage at least 4 associated regions, share results with them and provide technical assistance; financial support to third parties is possible.

Expected outcomes

Measurable progress towards the Mission targets, more port cities and authorities taking action, greater resilience to extreme weather and better knowledge sharing between ports. Activities are expected to reach TRL 6 to 8 by the end of the project.
