Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?

The topic funds innovation actions that improve how bio-waste and under-used biomass are collected, processed and traded, including support for at least five biomass platforms and SMEs.

Que finance cet appel ?

Scope

Bio-waste is a large, underused biomass resource. The topic supports actors who aggregate, pre-treat and standardise biomass waste streams and match supply with demand.

Activities

Proposals should address all of the following:

  • Study and optimise business models for aggregation, pre-treatment, standardisation and primary valorisation of under-used biomass, including food losses and waste and industrial biogenic residues, working with local governments and communities.
  • Develop new or strengthen existing biomass platforms (at least five) connecting suppliers and users in urban and rural settings, and facilitate business decisions, especially for SMEs.
  • Map platforms and digital marketplaces, identify barriers such as end-of-waste criteria, and make recommendations.
  • Develop tools and digital solutions to improve bio-waste collection, processing, logistics and traceability, and test technologies for turning biomass into added-value products.

Geographic focus

Particular attention should go to areas where biomass is not fully used, such as Central and Eastern Europe, Ukraine and other EU candidate countries.

Expected outcomes

More efficient use of biomass, more value from bio-waste, lower emissions and pollution from avoided landfilling and incineration, and demonstrated benefits for municipalities. Activities are expected to reach TRL 6-8.
