Que finance cet appel ?

Scope

The topic supports riparian and coastal areas, waterfront cities and islands and their communities in demonstrating the transitions needed for the objectives of the Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters. Each proposal addresses one sea basin or Mission lighthouse: the Atlantic and Arctic, the Mediterranean, the Baltic and North Sea, or the Danube River basin including its delta and the Black Sea.

What proposals should do

  • Test and demonstrate solutions that improve the resilience of riparian and coastal areas and their communities, with emphasis on nature-based solutions, a source-to-sea approach, transboundary action and regeneration of the blue economy.
  • Carry out at least 6 demonstration activities in different types of areas, in at least 3 countries of the chosen basin.
  • Monitor impacts, including societal acceptance, and link with the Digital Twin Ocean and the Ocean and Water Knowledge System.
  • Work closely with public authorities, involve citizens (for example through living labs) and provide policy recommendations.
  • Engage at least 5 associated regions, help them prepare replication plans and build local capacity; financial support to third parties is possible.
  • Draw up an action plan and roadmap for replication and scale-up by the end of the project, and seek synergies with funds such as ERDF and LIFE.

Expected outcomes

  • Cost-effective solutions that increase climate resilience of riparian and coastal areas, especially in waterfront cities and islands.
  • Better ecological functions, such as water quality, erosion control and biodiversity, and reduced vulnerability to floods, sea level rise and droughts.
  • Socio-economic benefits, including for recreation and tourism, and wider uptake by authorities beyond the consortium.

Activities are expected to reach TRL 6 to 8 by the end of the project.
