Innovative technologies and solutions to improve wave and tidal energy systems
Horizon Europe · Cluster 5 – Climate, Energy and Mobility · HORIZON-CL5-2027-02-D3-09
Funding to develop, validate and demonstrate wave and tidal energy technologies, including open calls for SMEs, start-ups and researchers.
Cet appel est annoncé mais pas encore ouvert. Les dates et les conditions peuvent encore changer.
Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?
The call funds one large innovation action that develops, validates and demonstrates wave and tidal energy technologies, partly through open calls that fund research organisations, start-ups, SMEs and industry.
Que finance cet appel ?
Scope
The action supports the SET Plan priorities for ocean energy by developing and demonstrating cost-effective wave and tidal energy systems that can withstand harsh sea conditions with minimal impact on health, the environment and biodiversity. Areas that can be covered include:
- New wave energy devices and next-generation tidal energy devices, demonstrated in a controlled environment
- Sustainable materials, moorings, foundations and power transmission, including combined mooring and electrical connectors and quick connection systems that do not need large vessels or divers
- Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, use of artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing
- Installation, maintenance and decommissioning solutions
Structure of the action
Work is organised in three challenges. The breakthrough and validation challenges can be carried out by the core consortium and through financial support to third parties (FSTP); the demonstration challenge is carried out only by the core consortium. The project should run at least three clearly different demonstration activities up to TRL 7, each with a go/no-go milestone that requires permits, detailed engineering plans and a business and implementation plan.
Budget allocation stated in the call
- Demonstration challenge: up to €24,000,000 of EU funding
- FSTP for the breakthrough challenge: up to €3,000,000
- FSTP for the validation challenge: up to €6,000,000
- Project management: not more than 7% of the EU funding
Governance
The consortium must manage the FSTP calls, report progress against the IEA Ocean Energy Systems stage-gate metrics, present a risk and mitigation plan and set up an independent Advisory Board.
