Integrating Remote Sensing and in-situ observations of Biodiversity, towards a fully interoperable observation and data framework
Horizon Europe · Cluster 6 – Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment · HORIZON-CL6-2027-01-BIODIV-01
Research funding to combine in-situ, genomic and satellite biodiversity data into interoperable, AI-ready monitoring frameworks.
Cet appel est annoncé mais pas encore ouvert. Les dates et les conditions peuvent encore changer.
Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?
The topic funds research that integrates in-situ, omics-based and remote sensing biodiversity data into interoperable, AI-ready data systems. It targets consortia able to build harmonised data workflows and demonstration cases for European ecosystems.
Que finance cet appel ?
Scope
Projects develop and validate multisensory systems that harmonise omics-based and in-situ biodiversity data and integrate them with satellite or sub-orbital remote sensing, socio-ecological and climate data. The aim is better assessment of ecosystem condition and degradation and predictive modelling of biodiversity trends at international, regional and European scales.
Activities
- Identify and prioritise critical biodiversity knowledge gaps and their data needs, with a focus on predictive analytics and AI.
- Develop demonstration and verification cases for specific ecosystems and habitats under pressure or prioritised for restoration, including ecotones, across terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems.
- Deliver FAIR data, harmonisation workflows and processing protocols, linked to relevant data infrastructures such as the European Open Science Cloud and the European Common Data Spaces.
- Contribute to shared definitions for data collection, metadata, data quality and standards.
Expected outcomes
Results should support policy-relevant ecosystem assessment, nature protection and restoration planning, stronger monitoring capacity among researchers and decision-makers, and better use of in-situ datasets for training and validating machine learning and AI methods.
Cooperation
Proposals should earmark resources for cooperation with existing in-situ data initiatives (such as GBIF, OBIS and LUCAS) and foresee coordination with projects selected under the European Space Agency FuturEO programme. The topic is part of the biodiversity cluster of the EC-ESA Earth System Science Initiative.
