Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?
The call funds research and innovation on AI tools that make climate data more usable for regional and local decision-makers or help key sectors adapt to climate change. Projects work directly with regional and local authorities.
Que finance cet appel ?
Scope
Proposals should show how AI-powered tools go beyond the state of the art, identify a specific gap they address and explain why they improve existing models or why new solutions are needed. Each proposal addresses one of two objectives.
Objective 1: AI for more accessible data
Use AI techniques such as deep learning to make climate data more accessible and understandable for decision-making by regions and local authorities, and to improve data integrity and accessibility. Improvements should be tested with at least 3 regional and local authorities.
Objective 2: AI for sectoral adaptation
Use machine learning and AI tools to help regions and local authorities manage resources and improve adaptation technologies in key sectors, such as smart agriculture, buildings, water, waste, transport or energy resilience. Tools should be developed and tested in the territory of at least 5 regional or local authorities, with private sector actors from the chosen sector involved.
Common requirements
All proposals should provide training and dissemination material for regions and local authorities, avoid bias, ensure representative data and consider the limits of generative AI. Projects should link to the Mission Implementation Platform and take part in the Mission Community of Practice. At least the highest-ranked proposal under each objective will be funded, provided it passes all thresholds.
Expected outcomes
- AI improves actionable climate adaptation knowledge for regions and local authorities by bringing climate data into decision-making, or
- specific sectors in selected regions become more resilient through AI while advancing their digital transformation.
