Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?

The call funds projects that document and commemorate the genocide of Roma and Sinti, develop education on Roma history and counter denial and antigypsyism. Applications come from consortia of at least two organisations led by a non-profit legal entity or international organisation from the EU or a CERV-associated country.

Que finance cet appel ?

Scope

This priority of the European Remembrance call supports projects on the non-Jewish victims of the Holocaust, focusing on the genocide of Roma and Sinti under Nazi rule and the wider history of antigypsyism, including slavery and later persecution. Projects on the Holocaust against Jewish people are covered by a separate topic. Special priority goes to projects that strengthen Roma Holocaust remembrance while addressing the deeper roots of antigypsyism.

Possible project focus

  • Documenting the Roma genocide and its historical context, and countering denial, distortion and trivialisation.
  • Networks of Roma and non-Roma youth ambassadors, and grassroots commemorations such as 2 August (European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day) and 16 May (Romani Resistance Day).
  • Teaching materials that bring Roma history into national curricula, and digitisation of testimonies and archives.
  • Research on restitution, forced displacement and long-term consequences, stories of Roma resistance and contribution, and transitional justice approaches.
  • Inclusive and participatory remembrance, including artistic memory projects and memory activism.

Activities that can be funded

  • Linking different types of organisations, such as non-profit and grassroots groups, public administrations, academia, museums, memorial sites and educational institutions.
  • Training, exhibitions, public debates, non-formal education, awareness raising, research, collection and digitisation of testimonies, publications and online tools.
  • Education activities for pupils, students, young people and teachers, and exchanges between witnesses and younger generations.
  • Projects should have a European dimension, preferably at transnational level, and integrate gender equality and non-discrimination.

Form of funding

The grant is a lump sum. Each lump sum corresponds to one work package, organised as an "event" (for example a conference, workshop, training, exhibition, campaign, survey or research activity) with direct and verifiable participation of the target groups. The amount is calculated from the number of direct participants and the number of eligible countries per event, and the call is subject to the final adoption of the 2027 EU budget.
