Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?
The topic funds research into reducing the environmental, ecological and health impacts of construction and renovation sites. Projects develop and validate solutions and draft a European charter for better site management.
Que finance cet appel ?
Scope
Construction and renovation sites cause noise, air pollution, waste, dust, soil compaction, water contamination and vibration, harming nearby ecosystems and the health and well-being of workers and people living, working or passing nearby. They are also often visually unappealing. The topic supports a better understanding of these effects and solutions to reduce them.
What proposals should do
- Assess the environmental, ecological and health effects of construction and renovation sites on surrounding ecosystems, workers and the public.
- Develop at least two solutions that reduce these effects while also addressing the visual impact of sites.
- Validate the solutions and assess their costs and benefits with appropriate methods and indicators.
- Provide recommendations and guidance to construction ecosystem actors, and draft a European Charter for sound environmental and working environment management of construction and renovation sites that companies and other entities can endorse.
Approach
Work should be participatory and transdisciplinary. An effective contribution from social sciences and humanities is required. Proposals are expected to set aside at least 0.8% of their budget for engaging with the Horizon Europe-funded New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact.
Expected outcomes
- Greater awareness among urban planners, architects, developers and site managers of the negative effects of sites.
- A significant reduction of those effects on ecosystems, health and well-being.
- Activities are expected to reach technology readiness level 4-5 by the end of the project.
