Quel est l’objet de cet appel ?

The topic funds research infrastructures that co-create advanced technologies with industry, start-ups and research organisations to improve their services and bring the technologies to wider markets.

Que finance cet appel ?

Scope

The topic supports research infrastructures in developing and implementing innovative technologies that improve the performance of their scientific services, while cooperating with other research organisations, industry, start-ups and scale-ups so that new infrastructure technologies spill over into the wider economy. It is linked to the aim of making Europe a leading region for deep-tech start-ups and scale-ups.

Aspects proposals should address

  • Co-creation of advanced technologies that meet research infrastructure needs, considering resource efficiency, environmental impact and technological sovereignty.
  • Partnerships between research infrastructures and other research performing organisations, including industry, to co-create solutions and promote their uptake outside the science market.
  • A shared understanding of the commercial potential of the technologies, with support from technology transfer teams from an early stage.

Technology readiness

Developments for the research infrastructure use case are expected to go beyond TRL 4. Developments with potential applications beyond that use case should reach TRL 3 to 4. Proposals should clearly describe which TRL each development will reach by the end of the project.

Pre-commercial procurement option

Proposals may include pre-commercial procurement (PCP) subcontracting, in which competing R&D providers develop designs, prototypes and test solutions in successive phases, opening market opportunities for industry and researchers in the EU and Associated Countries.

Expected outcomes

  • More competitive research infrastructures through co-developed technologies addressing common needs.
  • Closer cooperation between infrastructures and other public and private research organisations, with infrastructures acting as centres of deep-tech innovation ecosystems.
  • Stronger EU innovation capacity and technological sovereignty.
