Scope
The CoPower action, implemented by Oxfam Italia, ActionAid Hellas, Asociacion Bienestar y Desarrollo and WeWorld-GVC, funds initiatives addressing gender-based violence (GBV) against women, girls and children through an intersectional approach. Three national calls support civil society organisations (CSOs) in Italy, Greece and Spain. Child protection and gender mainstreaming are expected to be integral to proposals, and partner organisations provide technical support to strengthen CSO capacity in these areas.
Funding workstreams
- Stream 1, enhanced protection response: tailored protection and support services such as safe houses and medical and psychological assistance for victims of domestic, sexual and other forms of GBV, considering barriers to equal access (€540,000 in total for the three countries).
- Stream 2, reduction of harmful practices: prevention of and response to practices such as female and intersex genital mutilation, forced abortion and sterilisation, child and forced marriage, honour-related violence and forced medicalisation of transgender women, through awareness raising, stronger legal frameworks and community education (€360,000 in total for the three countries).
Grants per country
- First round, six projects: Stream 1 grants of €50,000, €50,000 and €20,000; Stream 2 grants of €50,000, €25,000 and €5,000.
- Second round, four projects: Stream 1 grants of €30,000 and €30,000; Stream 2 grants of €20,000 and €20,000.
Process
Applications go through an administrative check, eligibility verification and shortlisting, final assessment, due diligence and signature of the agreement. Information sessions are held online and in person in each country.
